54mm to 58mm Portafilter Funnel (Breville 54mm)

Designed for compatible Breville 54mm portafilters, this twist-lock dosing funnel helps keep coffee grounds inside the basket during grinding, transfer, distribution and puck preparation.

The funnel locks onto the portafilter to provide a secure fit, while its raised walls create additional working space above the basket. This makes it easier to grind directly into the portafilter, transfer coffee from a dosing cup and use a WDT tool without spilling grounds over the edge.

The funnel also has a wider outer profile than a standard 54mm portafilter. With some combinations of portafilter and grinder fork, this may allow the portafilter to rest on a fork designed for wider 58mm equipment. Compatibility depends on the dimensions, position and adjustability of the fork, so this should be treated as a secondary benefit rather than guaranteed compatibility.

Grinding and Puck Preparation

Use the funnel when grinding directly into your Breville portafilter or when transferring coffee from a dosing cup into the smaller 54mm basket. The raised sides help guide the coffee into the basket and provide more room for distribution and WDT.

Once the coffee has been distributed, twist the funnel to remove it and tamp as normal.

Possible Use with Wider Portafilter Forks

Although primarily designed as a dosing funnel, its wider exterior may allow some Breville 54mm portafilters to rest on grinder forks intended for 58mm portafilters or dosing cups.

This can make direct grinding possible with some setups, including certain configurations of the DF54 and DF64 Gen 2. The product images show one example of this type of setup.

Fit is not universal. Fork width, height, shape and adjustment can all affect whether the portafilter sits securely and aligns correctly beneath the grinder chute. Always check the stability and alignment of your portafilter before grinding.

Why Use a Dosing Funnel?

A dosing funnel extends the working area above the basket, helping prevent freshly ground coffee from spilling during grinding, transfer and distribution. It also gives you more room to use a WDT tool thoroughly without pushing grounds over the edge of the portafilter.

For Breville users who grind into a dosing cup, the funnel also helps guide coffee cleanly into the smaller 54mm basket. With a compatible grinder fork, its wider profile may offer the additional option of grinding directly into the portafilter.

Compatibility

This funnel is intended for compatible Breville 54mm portafilters. Fit can vary between original and aftermarket portafilters, so please check the design and dimensions of your portafilter before ordering.

Compatibility with grinder forks is not guaranteed. The funnel may allow certain 54mm portafilters to rest on some wider forks, but this depends on the individual grinder, fork position and portafilter design.

This product is a dosing funnel only. It does not convert a 54mm portafilter for use in a 58mm espresso machine group head.
