The DF64V V3 is a compact variable-speed, single-dose coffee grinder built around a widely supported 64mm flat-burr platform. Its aluminium body, stepless adjustment and low-retention workflow make it suitable for espresso through to filter brewing, while adjustable motor speed provides another variable for exploring how different coffees, burrs and brew methods behave.

Designed to grind one measured dose at a time, the DF64V V3 helps minimise the carry-over of stale grounds between coffees. Learn more about this approach in our guide to single-dose coffee grinders.

Key Features

  • Variable-speed control: adjust motor speed to explore different grinding and extraction characteristics.

  • Brushless DC motor: provides variable-speed operation within a compact grinder body.

  • 64mm flat-burr platform: available with DLC-coated or Red Titanium-coated burrs.

  • Stepless grind adjustment: make precise changes when dialling in espresso or moving between brew methods.

  • Low-retention workflow: supported by a revised grinding chamber, streamlined grounds path and bellows.

  • Plasma generator: positioned near the exit chute to help reduce static and improve grounds delivery.

  • Magnetically removable chute: provides easier access to the grounds-clearing flap and chute during cleaning.

  • Compact aluminium construction: provides a narrow footprint for home coffee setups where bench space matters.

Variable-Speed Control

Unlike the fixed-speed DF64 Gen 2, the DF64V V3 allows users to adjust motor speed and explore how RPM interacts with the coffee, burr set, grind setting and brewing method.

Changing RPM can affect feed rate, particle distribution and grinding behaviour, although the result will vary with the coffee and burr geometry. Lower and higher speeds should therefore be treated as additional adjustment variables rather than fixed settings for particular roast levels or flavour profiles. Changing RPM may also require a corresponding adjustment to grind size.

What’s New in the DF64V V3?

The DF64V V3 refines the earlier DF64V design with updates to its motor, grinding chamber and grounds-delivery system:

  • Updated brushless DC motor designed to provide improved grinding performance.

  • Revised variable-speed system for espresso and filter grinding.

  • Updated internal grinding chamber designed to improve the movement of ground coffee towards the exit chute.

  • Single-chute grounds path replacing the earlier double-chute arrangement.

  • Magnetically removable exit chute for easier cleaning and maintenance.

  • Integrated plasma generator to help reduce static as grounds leave the grinder.

  • Accessible metal grounds-clearing flap positioned behind the removable chute.

Low-Retention Workflow and Accessible Cleaning

The DF64V V3 is designed around a direct single-dose grounds path. Coffee moves from the 64mm burrs through the revised grinding chamber and single exit chute into the supplied metal dosing cup.

The bellows can be used after grinding to help clear remaining grounds from the chamber and chute. Although retention will vary with the coffee, grind setting, humidity and workflow, the DF64V V3 is designed to minimise the amount of coffee left inside between doses.

The plasma generator helps manage static at the chute, reducing stray grounds and improving dosing cleanliness. Static can still vary with environmental conditions and the coffee being used. See our guide to reducing static when grinding coffee for additional workflow advice.

The magnetically attached exit chute can be removed to access the chute, grounds-clearing flap and plasma-generator pins during routine cleaning. Keeping these areas clear of compacted grounds and coffee oils helps maintain clean grounds delivery and the performance of the static-reduction system.

Stepless Grind Adjustment

A large stepless adjustment dial allows fine changes to the burr spacing without restricting users to preset steps. This makes it easier to make small corrections when dialling in espresso while retaining a broad adjustment range for pour-over, AeroPress and other filter methods.

Grind settings are not universal. The appropriate setting will depend on burr calibration, the installed burr set, coffee age, roast level, dose and brewing equipment.

Red Titanium Burrs and Customisation

The DF64V V3 is supplied with Red Titanium-coated 64mm flat burrs. These stainless steel burrs use an AlTiN coating intended to improve surface hardness and long-term wear resistance.

The coating primarily affects the burrs’ surface properties and durability. Burr geometry remains the more important influence on particle distribution, extraction behaviour and how coffee presents in the cup. Read our Red Titanium burr guide for a more detailed explanation.

The DF64V V3 uses a widely supported 64mm flat-burr format, providing access to a broad range of replacement and upgrade options. This allows users to configure the grinder around different preferences for espresso body, flavour separation, sweetness or filter clarity.

The DF64V V3 is compatible with Grind Logic’s range of SSP 64mm burrs, including High Uniformity, Multipurpose and Lab Sweet options. You can also browse our complete collection of 64mm replacement and upgrade burrs.

Compatibility with third-party burrs should be confirmed before installation, as nominal burr diameter alone does not guarantee the correct mounting-hole pattern, burr geometry or chamber clearance.

Who Is the DF64V V3 For?

The DF64V V3 is best suited to enthusiast home baristas who want:

  • A low-retention single-dose workflow
  • Precise stepless espresso adjustment
  • Variable-speed control for experimentation
  • A grinder capable of covering espresso and filter brewing
  • Access to a broad selection of aftermarket 64mm burrs
  • A compact alternative to larger variable-speed grinders

For users who prefer a simpler and more affordable fixed-speed workflow, the DF64 Gen 2 provides access to the same broad 64mm burr ecosystem. The DF64V V3 is better suited to users who specifically value variable RPM control, a brushless DC motor and a slimmer form factor.

Australian Stock and Local Support

The DF64V V3 is supplied for use in Australia and New Zealand and supported locally by Grind Logic in Adelaide. Purchasing locally provides access to Australian-based product support, warranty assistance and replacement parts.
